"Art and design is not just a subject to learn, but an activity that you can practise: with your hands, your eyes, your whole personality,"
Quentin Blake, Children's Laureate
Art and Design
Art and design stimulates imagination and creativity and is an important form of self-expression for children. It affords children visual, tactile and sensory experiences and a unique way of responding to their world. Children will learn to use colour, form, texture, pattern and different materials and processes to communicate what they see, feel and think.
Children will also explore ideas and meanings in the works of a wide range of artists and craftspeople. They will learn about the diverse roles and functions of art, craft and design in contemporary life, and in different times and cultures. We aim for our children to appreciate the value of art, craft and design in enriching and adding meaning to our everyday lives.
