We are very fortunate to have some fantastic neighbours in our village, who are very supportive of our school.
Mr and Mrs Buckingham are one such example. As experienced breeders of guide dog puppies, they gave our children in Key Stage One the unique opportunity to visit their home to meet the beautiful Ice and her newest arrivals!
Our youngest pupils visited on the day when the Guide Dog Trainer was visiting so that she could show the children how she weighs the puppies, clips their claws and gives them a general health check. The children then had the opportunity to ask lots of questions about the training and work of guide dogs, and most importantly to have lots of cuddles with the puppies. The smiles on the children's faces say it all - what a fantastic learning opportunity!
And here are a selection of thank you letters written by the children, following their visit. The letters were hand delivered by Mrs Barrick and one Reception pupil who had been too poorly to meet the puppies on the day of our orginal visit. Super autumn term writing, Class 1!
