Miss Dickens, Acorn Class Teacher on Thursdays and Fridays, led Collective Worship today where she introduced our NEW international school link with Common Faith Educational Complex, Kumasi, in Ghana, West Africa. This African school began its life under a tree in the village, in the hopes of providing a quality education for children in the local community. The school now has a building and over 150 children who relish the opportunity to attend to receive an education. Miss Dickens and her friend visited this school as volunteer teachers to help the children to learn about basic health and hygiene, and to help the teachers to learn some new teaching strategies. Miss Dickens is now passionate about building a penpal link between Common Faith Educational Complex, Kumasi, and our own school in order to help our Loxley children to learn about the lives of children living in other parts of our world. In preparation for establishing this link, the children have written some Christmas prayers which will now be sent to Kumasi, along with some Christmas pencils for the children. It is hoped that the Kumasi children will write back to us in the new year, using their new pencils! In the meantime, thank you to Miss Dickens for organising this exciting, international link for Loxley pupils and staff.
