Today, the children in Acorn Class experienced 'Pirate Day' filled with immersive learning opportunities linked to their summer term topic of 'All Aboard!'
Children and staff were invited to join in with the fun by dressing up in a full pirate's costume or by adding pirates' accessories to their school uniform so that they could walk the plank in the Pirate Fashion Parade! The children went on to test the best materials for building a strong pirates' ship as well as learning how to perform a range of sea shanties and how to bake salt biscuits. Other highlights from the day included reading: 'Where's the gold?', learning about the history of piracy and designing and making their own treasure chests using nets.
Thank you to Miss Wiffen, Miss Dickens and Mrs Rice for organising such a fun Monday of learning for the children and thank you to all of our parents for supporting with costumes and accessories.
