Our Church and Parish
Loxley Primary School falls under the parish of Loxley, whose local church is St Nicholas Church. This beautiful place of worship dates back as far as pre-Norman times.
All of our children have the opportunity to visit the church throughout the year, including at Harvest Festival, Christmas and Easter when the children lead special services of worship for our whole school community.
Our NEW Vicar
Reverend Andy Larkin was officially licensed as Priest-in-charge of Barford with Wasperton and Sherbourne, and Hampton Lucy with Charlecote and Loxley, on 4th February, 2020, at the beautiful St Peter ad Vincula Church in the village of Hampton Lucy. Mrs Barrick, our Head of School, attended and participated in this special ceremony on behalf of all Loxley staff, children and governors.
During his secondment to our parish during 2019, Reverend Andy quickly established a rapport with pupils and staff alike, coming into school regularly to lead Collective Worship and to assist in the teaching of RE lessons. Reverend Andy always like to add 'a touch of magic' to his visits and enjoys getting involved with school projects and learning in any way he can. In the summer term, he even planned his own explosive morning of rocket building and launching down on the village green!
Children and staff missed having Reverend Andy with them for the first half of the 2019-2020 academic year as he was on a 6 month sabbatical, prior to taking up his permanent ministry. Reverend Andy is now back in school leading worship at least once a fortnight. Reverend Andy is also planning to once again assist in the teaching of RE lessons in school, as well as playing a key role in our school-led services in church. He is already helping us to explore lots of new ways to strengthen our school's links with our local church school community, through example through 'Open the Book'. Exciting times ahead!
