SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)

Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator or SENCO is Mrs Lizzie Sartain. At Loxley Primary School, we have a larger than average percentage of children with special educational needs. We are proud of our excellent reputation in supporting our children with SEND and their families within our highly inclusive and nurturing school community.


All of our children with identified special educational needs are placed on our SEND Register with their primary area of need clearly identified.  For each child, a termly child-centred PLP (Personalised Learning Plan) is written by the Class Teacher, in consultation with the SENCO, parents, child and any outside agencies for may be involved in supporting.  PLP targets are always SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-framed) and the impact of any interventions and support to put in place to help progress towards these targets is always carefully monitored. It is a constant cycle of Plan-Do-Assess-Review to ensure that all of our children with SEND flourish to be the best they can be!


As a federation, we buy into several external agencies to support our children with special educational needs, including: the Educational Psychology Service and SEND Supported.  For more information about these services and to explore other useful avenues of support and information about SEND, please follow the links below.
