What is Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the Government to help schools support disadvantaged pupils and ensure they have the same opportunities to achieve and succeed as their peers.
The funding is used to provide targeted support, resources, interventions and enrichment opportunities that help improve educational outcomes and wellbeing.
Who is eligible?
Schools may receive Pupil Premium funding for pupils who:
- are currently eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)
- have been eligible for Free School Meals at any point during the last six years (known as Ever 6 FSM)
- are looked after by a local authority, or have previously been looked after and subsequently adopted, or become subject to a child arrangements order or special guardianship order
- have a parent serving in the regular armed forces, or have done so within the last six years.
Why should I apply for Free School Meals?
Even if your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 and already receives a Universal Infant Free School Meal, or if they prefer to bring a packed lunch, registering for Free School Meals may mean the school receives additional funding to support your child's education.
This funding helps us provide additional learning opportunities, interventions and wider support for eligible pupils.
