ILLNESS
Children should remain at home if they are unwell, as this helps them recover more quickly and reduces the risk of spreading illness to others. Our staff are trained to provide immediate first aid only. If an emergency occurs and a child needs medical attention or hospital treatment, we will contact you as soon as possible.
It is essential that we have an up-to-date home telephone number for every child, along with an additional emergency contact. Please ensure that any changes to your contact details are shared with the school promptly.
In line with Public Health England guidance, the following information outlines the recommended absence periods for some common infectious illnesses and skin conditions.

MEDICINES IN SCHOOL
Medicines should not be brought in to school unless absolutely necessary and must be handed into the school office where a ‘Parental Agreement for School to Administer Medicine’ form should be completed and signed. Alternatively, you can download the form below. The member of staff administering the medication will complete a ‘Record of Medicines Administered’ form.
All medicines must be collected from the school office by a parent at the end of the day.
Children's inhalers are kept in the classrooms and are taken on all school trips. Please make sure that inhalers are in date and are clearly labelled with your child’s name. We also request that an 'Asthma Plan' is completed and sent into school; these are available to download here.
HEADLICE
Children's hair is no longer checked for head lice by the medical authorities and the school staff are not permitted to check children's hair.
Outbreaks occasionally occur and it is important that parents are vigilant in carrying out regular checks at home and we ask that you inform the school immediately if you do find head lice so that we can advise parents, and hopefully limit the spread of the problem.
